The task in this project was to create some ‘perpetual rounds’. Once I’d settled on a triad group, the trick seemed to be first choosing which interval combinations combine well in a melody, and arranging the resulting melodies in the best order so that it sounds like a complete piece when played alone. Then I tried to introduce some rhythmic variation so the parts aren’t all moving at the same time.
Here are two rounds composed using the C major and G minor example triad groups in the OCA material. The numbers 1, 2 and 3 above the score indicate the three round entries.
